House Bill 514 Survey

House Bill 514 provides for remote online notarization for limited situations involved affidavits and acknowledgments for private acts. Specifically excluded from remote notarization are any authentic acts, testaments, codicils, trusts or acknowledgments thereof, donations, matrimonial agreements or acknowledgments thereof, and acts modifying, waiving or extinguishing an obligation of final spousal support or acknowledgment thereof. A provision of this bill is that only notaries who have statewide jurisdiction may perform remote online notarizations.

On the recommendation of your legislation committee, the LNA Board of Directors has adopted a position of opposition to the bill unless it is amended to allow any and all regularly commissioned notaries to perform remote online notarization.

Please take a moment to complete this short survey to let us know how you stand on the LNA's position on HB 514. Your opinion counts!
